Hello again, I'm going to talk about the Australian mega fauna.
My fave animals from that time is the Marsupial Lion, the giant goanna, flesh eating 'roos, giant wombats, the three meter high emu's, and all the other animals from that time.
For those of you who don't know what a Marsupial Lion is, it's a giant possum.
I'll tell you a bit about it.
This great big possum-like animal was a carnivore.
It had giant teeth that would slice it's prey in half like a warm knife going through butter.
It's other weapon was a big claw on it's thumb.
It used it's claw in fights and for killing it's prey.
It was also as big as a leopard.
It's skull was like a cats.
It was also around when the Aborigines first came to Australia, it was a night hunter too, so if a Aborigine walked under a tree that had a Marsupial Lion in it, then the Aborigine would be killed very fast.
Also Tasmanian devils were on the main land and there were also giant roo's and giant crocs and ant eaters.
Marsupials drove out the animals that were not Marsupials for some reason, some people think it's because the Marsupials were much stronger.
Bettina has some photos on her blog that are skeletons of some Megafauna found in a phosphate mine. Click HERE to see her great photos.
