Trugo and Callie's Family

Posted by Feral Beast in ,

Hello.

I'm going to talk about a game I played called Trugo, and I'm going to talk about two books I read called CALLIE'S CASTLE and CALLIE'S FAMILY.

But first I'm going to talk about Trugo.
Trugo is a sport invented in the railway repair workshops of Newport in the Western suburbs of Melbourne by railway workers in the 1920s.
To play the game, you need a great big wooden mallet, and some rubber rings that look like hockey pucks.
You play it on a giant green that looks a bit like a bowls green.
There are some wooden poles at each end, and if you get the rubber ring through, you get a point.
If you want to learn a bit more about it, click here.

And now I'm going to talk about CALLIE'S FAMILY and about CALLIE'S CASTLE by Ruth Park.
CALLIE'S CASTLE is about a girl that gets her own room away from her brothers and sister in a hidden room at the top of the house.
CALLIE'S FAMLY is a few years after, when her sister finds a secret pasage under the house, and when her youngest brother goes to Denmark.
And I think anyone would like them.

See ya soon!

Anne Frank's Diary

Posted by Feral Beast in , ,

Hello.mrgreen

I've been reading a book that is The Diary of Anne Frank.surprised

It all started when Hitler ( the bloody swine ) took over the Jewish town where Anne Frank lived.
He made every Jewish person wear a yellow star on their jacket.
He banned them from using public transport.
The Jewish people were not allowed to go outside their houses after 6 O'clock at night.
But the worst thing was the German Army would go on rounds and get all the Jewish Men, Women, and children and march them in the streets to the concentration camps.cry
But some people fled before they were rounded up.

Anne Frank's family and some close friends of the family hid in some secret rooms in her Dad's warehouse.surprised

The door to the secret rooms in the warehouse is a swinging book-case that is locked on their side of the door.surprised

I'm now on to the parts where they have got another Jewish friend, and so they have eight
people living in the secret rooms ( 'coz there is Anne Frank's family and their friend's family ).surprised

I'll see ya tomorrow.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

Hello.
Sorry I haven't been on the blog lately, it's just this blasted cold is still around!
One minute I think I'm over it and then the next I'm stuck in bed for a while.
I had a bit of a melt down the other night.redface

Here's a book I read that I really like, and it's called THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, by Mark Haddon, and it's really cool.
It's about a young 15 year old boy that has autism and he's trying to solve a death of a dog in his street that was killed using a garden fork.
He also solves a few other mysteries.
He also finds a few skeletons in the wardrobe.surprised

It's quite good, in fact, I think everyone that reads it will love it, in some spots of the story it's a real tear jerker, in others you'll laugh your head off.
And Hilary, I think this will be able to help you understand what your grandson thinks.smile

You'll love it and you'll want to keep on reading it, and when I finished it I was sad that it was over, I really hope Mark Haddon will write a second book to this one.mrgreen

See ya next time.

A bit of everything yet again.

Hello, I'm sorry I haven't been able to go on all of your blogs lately, the cold has shot me down in flames, but I'll be right.
I'd like to talk about the books I'm reading at the moment, I have finished THE CALL OF THE WILD by Jack London, and I've just started a book by Jackie French that's called GOLD, GRAVES AND GLORY.

Some of my favorite Authors are, Jackie French, Victor Kelleher, Dick Browne, Jim Davis, and a lot more.

Here's some pic's of some books I like.

This one I got for Xmas, and I love it.

This one I just love, it's about this young girl that has had her Dad and her Uncle in WW1, and it's also about how she became a nurse.

During the flu epidemic, in Melbourne after WW1, she was a nurse that was very good at her work and also the year before she became a nurse, she had had the flu.
One of her younger sisters had died, and she herself had seen some people dying or dead.

This one is a very nice one to me, and I think everyone would love it.

I can't fit anymore on at the moment, so I hope you like it.

Mum has booked me in for some medieval talks on dungeons, manuscripts and music, also, mum has booked me in for a stone knapping workshop in a fortnight's time.
