Tram Museum again

Posted by Feral Beast in

Hello.

Here's some more pic's from Saturday.

The one that looks like a wheel is really the break.

This is what powers the tram.

Dad has just found a good book with a really good pic of a Sydney tram. And I just love it.

These are great pictures Feral beast. The museum looks very interesting. It is really good that they let people jump on board the trams and get a real sense of how they work. What fun!psy

Here'a bit of fascinating information. (Well...it's fascinating if you're a bit sad like me.) The trams round our way all have handles in the cabins that the driver has to keep his hand on at all times when moving. If he takes his hand off, the tram automatically stops. They're called 'Dead Man's Handles', the idea being that, should the driver suddenly drop dead for any reason, his hand will fall off it and the tram will grind to a halt, thus avoiding driving straight past the paying customers at the next stop.
Or something like that.
